Hi, I’m Carolynne

First, hello and thank you for choosing to support my small business! My name is Carolynne, and I am the sole Owner and Operator at The Hillside Market. I am a lover of growing things and I adore being outdoors. Together with my husband we design and build everything you see at The Hillside Market.

I was raised in a small rural town in Alberta, Canada where my love for animals, the outdoors, and agriculture developed. As a young girl I spent most of my time on my neighbor's farm riding horses and checking cows. In time, I went on to pursue a post secondary education in agriculture and eventually earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

From there I went on to work in the agriculture industry where I developed a passion for growing plants. One day, I had an idea in my head that I wanted to have my own greenhouse in my yard. I started drawing up a design for what would be a relatively straight forward build and would also be cost effective. I pitched the design to my husband who eventually agreed to build me my dream greenhouse!

Once my greenhouse was complete, I started sharing photos online and was shocked with how much interest I had from people asking me for specifics on how to build their own greenhouse just like mine! Eventually, the idea came to me to develop a DIY building guide that could be made available for purchase that would walk my customers through the process of building their own greenhouse. This is how The Hillside Market was born! I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a can-do attitude. I taught myself how to use various software and got to work building my brand.

Since then, we have sold thousands of our DIY Greenhouse Building Guides, and I have begun to expand my knowledge in the greenhouse industry as a whole. I have began taking classes on Greenhouse Crop Production, Landscape Design, and Greenhouse Structures. I am very excited for the opportunities that lay ahead for The Hillside Market, and I am honored to help you bring your greenhouse dreams to life!
